    Vulcans can live well into their 200′s, nearly twice the lifespan of the average 23rd Century human. Due to his Human DNA, Spock’s expected lifespan lies somewhere between these two points. However, this does not change the fact that while on the five year mission, Spock was in his mid-to-late 30′s, making him a relatively young Vulcan. During his time on the Enterprise, Spock was essentially a teenager.

    I find it illogical that humans would figure out FTL travel before knowing how to double their lifespan with gene tweaking.
